Design & Planning Consultancy
With experience of designing communications networks spanning 20 years, IDS have been involved with most of the standards based and non-standard methods of technical implementation. We have been involved in the design and development of voice and data services from single sites to national networks and from private networks to carrier services.
The majority of our design work is process driven. We seek to find the solution to a business problem utilising the existing equipment and services. Where this is not feasible, we will evaluate the most cost effective way in which the functionality can be delivered.
Procurement Consultancy
Over the years, IDS have been involved in many procurement exercises from small PBX’s to corporate IP-VPN’s. We are registered with the Consultancy Services Divisions of most equipment and carrier vendors. In many cases, we have our own account managers with these companies.
Our experience in this area and our independence in equipment and service selection mean that we can secure the most cost effective solution for our clients. More often than not, we can save our entire professional services fees in one procurement exercise.

Project Management
One of IDS’s specialist areas of expertise lies in the successful delivery of complex communications projects. These skills are most in evidence during the re-location of a company or organisation where business finishes at one location on a Friday evening and commences at another location the following Monday morning.
IDS have successfully delivered technology based projects from a multi-million pound business start-up for an International carrier to a simple PBX upgrade. Each of these projects are given an attention to detail such that they are delivered on time and to budget.
Operational Support Consultancy
The implementation of new products and services into a user environment can put additional pressures on in-house resources. IDS can assist in this area by working with the client and taking on a range of operational services. We can ensure that training programmes are planned and carried out properly. We can also ensure that procedures are developed that deal with various aspects of the operations of the systems or networks.
In addition to the above, IDS are able to take on ‘fire-fighting’ roles whereby we take on problems and issues that are outstanding and consuming a large amount of internal resource, and see them through to their conclusion.
